Our investigations are directed at the general mathematical (symplectic, canonical, Hamiltonian, …) structure, radiating modes, and conserved quantities of field theoretical and dynamical systems. Our aim is the exploration of their exceptional and particular properties applying mathematical methods.
Several of our research topics are connected to strong gravitational fields, using general relativistic methods. Our analysis is aimed at the inherent mathematical structure of the theory, as well as to the description of strong-field configurations. We investigate the emergence and significance of localized solutions formed by self-gravitating scalar fields or gravitational waves. We also consider the conservative dynamics of extended or compact bodies, describing the emitted gravitational waves. In the framework of exactly solvable many-body systems we investigate Ruijsenaars-Schneider models.
